Notice for March 12 & 15 Away Game

We regret to inform the public that the scheduled home game against Hong Kong Eastern on Thursday, 12th March and away game against the Alab Pilipinas on Sunday, 15th March has been postponed. The decision to postpone the game was made as purely a precautionary measure as we continute to monitor the condition of Singapore Slingers’ player Jamaal McKay. The said player has been in quarantine since his arrival in Singapore on the 7th up till 17th March 2020. He has been listed as a “low risk” and therefore is unlikely to be a carrier of the virus. He is in good health and has not carried any symptoms till date.

Extract from precious announcement on 7th March:

On Sat, 7th March, upon the Slingers return to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, their recent player, Jameel McKay received word from the Ministry of Health of Singapore that he was on the “contact list” as he was on the same flight from Turkey to Singapore with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19.
McKay has been in Singapore for the past six days and has shown no symptoms of any illness.

The rest of the Singapore Slingers players, staff, and personnel, as well as that of the Kuala Lumpur Dragons, and league personnel who may have had contact with McKay, are now being monitored for the next 48 hours for any signs of illness. This process and precautionary measure has been advised and endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United States Center for Disease Control (US-CDC), and Singapore Ministry of Health, for persons who have been in contact with a person on the “contact list” who does not present any symptoms of any illness.

However, it’s better to be on the side of caution when it comes to public safety and for this reason, the management of the Kuala Lumpur Dragons in consultation with the ASEAN Basketball League, has decided to cancel the game.

We urge anyone who has been in close contact with the player Jameel McKay, to monitor for any illness symptom for the next 48 hours. If any symptoms occur, please consult a doctor and inform us via email hello@kldragons.com for monitoring.

We apologize for all the inconvenience caused and implore everyone to take all the necessary precautions to avoid infection. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as time progress.
